| This page will introduce you to the various sources of weather information available on the Appalachian Trail. The links on the page lead to pages that provide direct access to weather information that is available on the Internet. Be prepared for weather changes on the Appalachian Trail. It will not be surprising for you to encounter sudden spells of off season cold weather, hail, sleet and snow. Winter like weather can occur in the southern Appalachians as late as May or as early as October. In Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine, extreme weather can occur year-round. Make sure you pack the right clothing for these weather extremes. |
